Virtual reality headsets, smart phones and enthusiastic historians merged as part of the Public History program’s first Digital History Tools Workshop Series.

Google-trained Matthew Gibson, Director of Digital Initiatives at the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Peter Hedlund, Lead Technologist for Encyclopedia Virginia led an interactive training session for graduate students, faculty and community historians. The workshop provided instructions on operating camera equipment and using Google Street View technology for historic preservation and documentation. The session was hosted at the Public History Lab at UCF’s Center for Emerging Media in downtown Orlando and was co-sponsored by CREATE.
