The Women’s and Gender Studies program and the English Department co-sponsored a reading on March 5 by author Fayeza Hasanat from her new book of short stories, The Bird Catcher and Other Stories (2018) Jaded Ibis Press. Hasanat spoke about her memories of Bangladesh’s society and about her perspectives as a Feminist growing in a patriarchal society. Hasanat answered questions after reading a selection of the story “Bride of the Banishing Sun.”
Fayeza Hasanat is an Associate Professor of English at UCF. Her research interests include Literature of the British Empire; English Novel, Gender Studies; Translation Studies; Postcolonial Theory; South Asian Diaspora.
