Lisa Mills’ award-winning documentary, The Young Composers Challenge will make its theatrical debut at the 2010 Florida Film Festival at the Enzian Theatre in Maitland on Sunday, April 11 at 3:45 p.m. and at Winter Park Village Regal Cinema Sunday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. The Young Composers Challenge is a 94-minute film about five teenagers competing to have their original classical compositions performed by professionals. Students write compositions and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra performs the winning pieces. UCF’s Center for Research and Education in Arts, Technology and Entertainment is a sponsor for the competition, which is also titled The Young Composer’s Challenge. Decorated for her filmmaking achievements, Mills was recently recognized by the Broadcast Education Association for this film, winning Best of Competition in the Long Form Documentary category.
