In any election, there are many factors that can affect an election in one way or another. Prior to the 2020 Presidential election, Spectrum News 13 spoke with UCF’s Maria C. Santana, director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, about the impact women have had on elections since they were first given the right to vote one hundred years ago.
“Women vote more than men traditionally, historically in this country. The woman voter is, of course, not monolithic. They have different agendas, it could be sexuality, childcare, deploying from military force, the economy…these issues are right there at the center of their families today and they care a lot about their loved ones,” said Santana.
