Students rehearse for a staged reading at Pegasus PlayLab

What is Pegasus PlayLab?

Pegasus PlayLab is a new play festival at the University of Central Florida dedicated to developing new works by MFA Playwriting candidates or emerging playwrights. We are soliciting three full-length plays, which we will rehearse for two weeks in collaboration with the playwright and subsequently present as workshop productions. There is a possibility of one of the selected plays being mounted as a full production in a future season.

This year we are connecting one of our Pegasus PlayLab workshop opportunities with the NEA Big Read Initiative. For this workshop, we are particularly interested in plays centered around the theme of war (we welcome any and all full-length submissions for the second and third workshops.) The NEA Big Read Initiative is a reading program rooted in building community through the “joy of sharing a good book.” Our featured Big Read title for 2020 is The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien.

As an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer, UCF encourages all qualified applicants to apply, including women, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and members of traditionally underrepresented populations.

When is Pegasus PlayLab?

The Pegasus PlayLab spans six weeks starting mid-May through the end of June. Selected playwrights are expected to commit to a two-week residency within that timeframe. We will provide transportation, housing, a stipend and the opportunity to develop your play with industry professionals at one of the largest universities in the country, UCF.

What should I submit?

Please submit a draft of a full-length play to ucfpegasusplaylab@gmail.com by 11:59 pm on October 21, 2019. The submissions do NOT need to be anonymous. In a separate word document, please include:
