Natalie Underberg, Daniel Novatnak, and Maria Cristina Santana presented on their work at an international videoconference entitled “Las redes sociales como una novedosa herramiento de la investigación” (“Social Networks as an Innovative Research Tool”). Organized by the University of Costa Rica, UCF was invited to participate along with Kansas State University. Underberg presented on her digital ethnography research concerning the use of Web 2.0 to create a sense of distributed community, Novatnak talked about his upcoming documentary on food truck vendors’ and customers’ use of emergent media, and Santana shared her plans for a future study on cyberactivism in girl culture. After the presentation, Underberg and Novatnak fielded questions from the University of Costa Rica and Kansas State University audience.
