The University of Central Florida Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform at the 2020 College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Conference. The UCF Wind Ensemble is one of only seven college and university wind bands invited to perform at the conference, their first such invitation in nearly 20 years, based on blind evaluation of concert audio from the past year. The conference takes place February 20-22 at Northwestern State University in Louisiana.
The UCF Wind Ensemble, conducted by UCF Director of Bands, Dr. Scott Lubaroff, is the premiere concert band in the School of Performing Arts, selected by audition at the start of each semester. Recently, they have released a commercial recording via Flying Horse Records, entitled Zodiac Concerto, and are actively immersed in the commissions and premieres of new works for wind band.
