“After 50 years of teaching at the University of Central Florida, artist Walter Gaudnek will close the door on the classroom this spring.
“I used to say they would have to carry me out,” he said. “But then I realized no, no, no, 50 years is enough.”
Retirement is the latest milestone for Gaudnek, who survived forced labor as a child in Europe, won a Fulbright Scholarship in 1957, was selected just three years later for the New York Museum of Modern Art New Talent Exhibition, created a set of Ten Commandments for Pope Francis, and has a museum named for him in Altomunster, Germany.”
