Theatre UCF Shines at KCACTF Finals in Washington, D.C.

At the end of April, four Theatre UCF students made their way to Washington, D.C. for The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), a national theater program involving 18,000 students annually from colleges and universities across the country. Representing Theatre UCF were students Kayla Amburgey, River Banks, Kaitlyn Gamory and Zachary Racine.

Kayla’s outstanding talent in stage management secured her a full scholarship to the Broadway Stage Management Symposium. Kayla also earned a Stage Management Fellowship as part of The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center Fellowships program.

During the festival, Kaitlyn earned the title of National Sound Design Awards Runner-Up her work on last fall’s production of “Metamorphoses”.

Participating in the Region IV competition in February prior to the National Festival, Zachary Racine took the top award in the Musical Theatre Initiative, securing his place in the national competition. He was also awarded a partial scholarship to the Open Jar Institute and was presented with the Excellence in Comedy Award. River Banks was awarded the KCACTF Region IV ASPIRE Arts Leadership Finalist, which earned him his trip to D.C. for his presentation.

All four students represented Theatre UCF with distinction at the KCACTF finals, and we are so proud of their dedication to their craft, as well as their contributions to the program. Together they showcased not only their individual talents, but also the collective strength and skill across all aspects of the department.
