This month, the Women’s and Gender Studies program presented the inaugural Gloria Anzaldúa Lecture Series. The lecture featured the two winners of the 2019 Gloria Anzaldúa Faculty Research Excellence Award, associate professor of anthropology Beatriz Reyes-Foster and professor of sociology Shannon Carter. The award supports individual pursuing advanced research near completion and of value to women’s and gender scholars, general audiences or both. Reyes-Foster and Carter discussed their research on the practice of breast milk sharing.
