Flute players Adriane Hill and Nicholas Buonanni are entering their final semester at UCF. During their time at UCF, they have been highly active performers, and their efforts have been recognized with numerous awards.
Both students are studying with Nora Lee García in the flute studio and had the opportunity to perform in master classes with internationally-recognized performers.
Adriane and Nicholas have also been honored for their academic achievements and will take home bachelor degrees in Music Performance this spring.
Adriane is a member of the Burnett Honors College and a recipient of several scholarships, including the Pegasus Gold Scholar Award and Winter Park Musicale Scholarship.
She has served as principal flute in the UCF Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble and president of the Flute Club at UCF for the past four years. She was the winner of UCF’s 2010 Concerto Aria competition and placed third in the Florida Flute Association’s 2013 College Young Artist Competition.
This fall, Adriane will begin graduate studies at the University of California Santa Barbara on a full teaching assistantship and fellowship.
Nicholas Buonanni was the recipient of the prestigious Presser Award and a UCF Founders’ Scholar. In 2011, he placed first in the UCF Concerto Competition and the NewME Composition Competition. He has served as principal flute for the UCF Symphony Orchestra and was invited to perform at the Powell Flute Factory.
Nicholas expects to graduate Summa Cum Laude before pursuing his masters degree at Michigan State University.
