Last month, Keith Kovach was selected as artist-in-residence for Quartier21 in Vienna, Austria. During his month-long residence from January 15 through February 15, Kovach will produce a body of street photography capturing the sense of time and place of Vienna in the winter of 2015. His work will be displayed February 24-25 at the MuseumsQuartier Wien, one of the largest art and culture complexes in the world, also located in Vienna.
Kovach hopes to develop a collaborative partnership with students from The University of Central Florida and the Institue of Fine and Media Art in the University of Applied Arts Vienna. His plans include show openings in Vienna and Orlando displaying student collaborative digital works.
Keith Kovach is a UCF Associate Professor, Fulbright Scholar, and member of the Board of Governors for the State University System of Florida. He specializes in photography, multimedia development, and animation. Kovach has an M.F.A. from the University of South Florida and has worked as a freelance artist for over 20 years.
Quartier21 is a support structure that offers space and support to more than 40 small and medium-sized autonomous cultural initiatives within the MuseumsQuartier Wien. Since the beginning of 2003, Quartier21’s Artist-in-Residence program has fostered international project-related exchange for international artists who do not normally reside in Austria. The program houses eight live/work studios free of charge with a monthly stipend for accepted artists-in-residence. The program’s objective is to expand the role of the MuseumQuartier Wien as one of the world’s largest contemporary cultural complexes, and to promote international cultural exchange.
