Richard Drexler features prominently on Low Standards, the latest release from renowned jazz musician Jeff Berlin. Drexler plays piano and bass alongside Berlin, one of the world’s most influential electric bass players. They are joined by famed drummer Mike Clark.

The album, along with Drexler’s performance, has been received warmly in a multitude of reviews. In a review in the JazzTimes, Jeff Tamarkin calls Drexler and Berlin “so over-the-top talented that there’s never any question they’re going to leave a listener slack-jawed.” JazzTimes is widely regarded as the world’s leading jazz publication.

Nick DeRiso of Something Else! Reviews declares, “There is no small amount of wonder in hearing Drexler tangle with Berlin, then move with a remarkable fluidity over to the piano.”

In addition to his teaching duties at UCF, Drexler is a multi-instrumentalist, composer/arranger and producer who tours frequently. Recently, he has performed on tour with the Jeff Berlin Trio. He has accompanied singers including Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, and Al Jarreau. Drexler has been active in the studio as well, appearing on dozens of album ranging from salsa to avant-garde to country and western to thrash metal group Saigon Kick.

Low Standards is available now from Random Act Records.
