In December, Patrick D. Murphy, Professor and Chair of the Department of English, will give twelve lectures in China at eight different universities in the cities of Beijing, Shijizhuang, Dalian, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Jinhua. His presentations will focus on the theory and practice of ecological literary criticism, American humanities programs, and critical translations.
The trip will be primarily sponsored by Beijing Language and Culture University and Hebei University of Science and Technology. With this trip completed, Murphy will have lectured at 27 different universities in China over the past several years. An increasing number of his essays are being translated into Chinese, along with a co-edited volume on feminist ecocriticism published by China Social Sciences Press and a collection of ecocritical essays forthcoming from Shandong University Press.
