The UCF School of Visual Arts & Design proudly announces the winners of the inaugural J.R. Hopes “Eye for Broadway” Art Competition.

The competition invited SVAD students to create art inspired by upcoming Broadway performances at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

  • Joy Garcia won for The Phantom of the Opera
  • Hebah Abdelqader won for Newsies The Musical
  • Cristina Glynn won for The Book of Mormon

Jim Hopes is sponsoring $500 prizes for each winner, and the chosen artworks will be displayed in the Dr. Phillips venue during the run of their respective Broadway shows.

Hopes also created the J.R. Hopes Art Scholarship that is now in its sixth year at UCF. Both awards are dedicated to nurturing young artists at UCF, encouraging them to make an impact in the Orlando community and beyond.
