In October, Jeff Moore was elected to the Board of Directors of the Percussive Arts Society. His election was announced at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Austin, Texas where he adjudicated the Marching Percussion Collegiate and High School Ensemble competition.

Additionally, Moore’s latest steel drum band arrangements (Alfred Publications), “Smooth” by Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas, as well as Jason Mraz’s recent hit “I’m Yours,” received positive reviews in the Percussive Arts Society’s scholarly journal Percussive Notes.

Moore has been active at various international music events:

  • At the eighty-eighth meeting of the National Association of Schools of Music in San Diego, he participated in sessions, and his presentation “Music Units’ Organizational and Communication Structures” was enthusiastically received.
  • Moore adjudicated and guest conducted the mass band at the Hong Kong Marching Band Championships, December 26-30, 2012.
  • On January 12, Professor Moore and the percussion section of the UCF Wind Ensemble presented a clinic at the Florida Music Educators Conference in Tampa. The session, “A Band Director’s Guide to the Percussion Section: Performance Techniques in Standard and Contemporary Wind Band Literature,” featured the Wind Ensemble participants performing selections from their FMEA featured concert performance on January 10.
  • Keith Koons and Jeff Moore performed a duo recital at the International Clarinet Festival in Ghent, Belgium on January 19 and featured Passage to Petra, a work they commissioned from award-winning composer Michael Daugherty.
