Pembroke Circle, the debut feature film from recent graduate Max Rousseau, will premiere at the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. Rousseau wrote and directed the film for his M.F.A. thesis.
According to Rousseau, “Pembroke Circle could not have been made without the help and support of the UCF Film Program. Making a film under the micro-budget paradigm has made me a more resourceful and practical filmmaker. I was forced to focus on the story and what I was trying to communicate with the viewer, which is what I feel is most important, regardless of the budget. My mentors at UCF pushed me to develop a unique voice and kept me humble. I continue to strive for originality and growth, remembering that every day is an opportunity for learning. I am very excited to premiere the film at the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and bring some black and gold pride to my hometown. I’d like to extend a huge ‘thank you’ to everybody who has made his film possible. Go Knights!”
SVAD faculty member Lisa Peterson says, “We are thrilled that Max’s film will be premiering at such a prestigious festival. The UCF Film program had the pleasure of working with Max as an undergraduate and a graduate student. He impressed us from the start with his admission portfolio and has grown into a superior filmmaker. We wish him the best.”
