Sheherazade Thenard ’18, a figurative painter and illustrator, has been awarded “Artist in Residence” by American Landmark.

The residency provides “innovative, practical pathways for the arts to thrive, and for creators to regenerate themselves and their communities,” according to Artist in Residence co-founder Rachel Lubeck. Not only do professional artists gain quality housing, but their neighbors benefit as well with access to on-site art events and educational programs for both children and adults.

In May 2022, Thenard will graduate with an MFA degree from UCF’s School of Visual Arts and Design. “As I close the chapter on graduate school,” Thenard states, “this program offers a series of unique opportunities, including being able to give back to the local community through arts workshops that I will lead. It’s truly an inspiring head start in every way.”
