On February 11, 2017, The Orlando Gay Chorus is presenting Love Is…A Fairy Tale, an evening of cabaret performances featuring several UCF staff, alumni and a current student.

“I realized as I was putting the show together how many people were part of the UCF School of Performing Arts now and in the past. And I thought what a wonderful thing that we are sharing the stage as part of a night celebrating love and diversity,” says Dan Jones, Costume Shop Manager for the School of Performing Arts and Production Chair for Orlando Gay Chorus.

Love Is… is an annual fundraiser event for the chorus and each year a new theme is added to the title. This year Jones selected, “Fairy Tale.” The performance will feature Sara Catherine Barnes (B.F.A. Musical Theatre, 2008) singing from Sondheim’s Into The Woods, Katie Whittemore (B.F.A. Musical Theatre, junior) as Mary Poppins, and James Rode (Music Education B.M.E., 2004) who serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Orlando Gay Chorus.

Sue Glerum, Music Specialist for the UCF Theatre Department, serves as principal accompanist for the chorus, and will perform the Adagio section from Moonlight Sonata.

The cabaret will take place at the Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, 1905 Kentucky Ave. in Winter Park at 7:30pm. Tickets include the show and an array of desserts. Tickets are available through the Blue Bamboo website.
